Effective for all auto insurance quote comparisons in Canada
This Privacy Policy governs the use of your Personal Information in connection with any websites, online services, and/or applications owned or operated by Easy Compare (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “Easy Compare”), including the website located at easycompare.ca and any auto insurance comparison services (collectively, the “Services”).
We are not an insurance company or an insurance agent. We help connect individuals and businesses in Canada with companies that may be able to provide auto insurance products. We do not charge individuals to submit inquiries; instead, we receive payment from insurance agents, insurers, and third-party insurance service websites (“Insurance Services”).
Personal Information: When you use Easy Compare to compare auto insurance, we may collect identifiers (name, date of birth, driver's license number, IP address), contact info, motor vehicle records, driving history, claims history, desired coverage, financial info (credit card for bind only), consumer reports (driving abstracts, credit-based insurance score where permitted under Canadian law), device data, and location.
Usage Data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, clicks, and referring URLs.
Call & Session Recording: We may record calls and electronic communications for quality assurance. By communicating with us, you consent.
We collect information directly from you (forms, surveys), automatically via cookies and similar technologies, and from third-party sources such as insurance partners and consumer reporting agencies (e.g., credit bureaus, driving record providers). We use cookies to improve your experience—essential, analytics, advertising cookies. You can adjust cookie preferences via browser settings.
We use your Personal Information to: provide auto insurance quotes, connect you with licensed Canadian insurers, improve our Services, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations. We may share your information with Insurance Services and Service Providers (hosting, analytics, marketing). We do not sell sensitive personal data. However, some sharing with partners for personalized advertising may be considered a “sale” under certain laws; you can opt out (see Section 13).
📌 For Canadian auto insurance: Your information is shared only with insurers/brokers to generate real-time rates. Under PIPEDA and provincial laws, you have the right to withdraw consent and request deletion.
In connection with auto insurance applications, insurers may obtain consumer reports including credit information and driving records (MVR). By providing information to Easy Compare, you consent to insurance partners obtaining such reports as permitted by Canadian privacy legislation.
Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial laws (e.g., Quebec Law 25, Alberta PIPA), you have the right to access, correct, and withdraw consent regarding your personal information. You may also request that we stop selling or sharing your information for marketing purposes.
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies. You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings or use the DAAC (Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada) opt-out tool at youradchoices.ca. For Google Analytics opt-out, visit Google Analytics Opt-out.
We employ administrative, technical, and physical safeguards. However, no internet transmission is completely secure. We retain your personal information as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described or as required by law (e.g., tax, insurance regulations).
The Site is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
